Eid Prayers Commencing Eid ul Fitar 2012 Celebrations in Pakistan


Eid ul fitr is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal. Shawwal is the tenth month in holy Islamic Calendar. Families begin this Eid morning with a special Prayer also known as Eid Prayer. This prayer offers a special thanks to god for the strength and discipline received during the holy month of Ramadan. People distribute sweets and children wear new clothes on this great Muslim festival known as Eid.
In Pakistan Eid-ul-Fitr has always been observed enthusiasm throughout the country. the Eid day is celebrated all-over Pakistan, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan with great religious zeal, fervor and festivity, marking the culmination of the holy month of Ramazan.

As the Eid ul fitr 2012 draws near people prepare themselves to get indulged in the Eid festivities. The holy day of celebrations is marked with celebrations all day long. Big Eid congregations are held all-over Pakistan on the Eid day. On the occasion, special prayers were offered for the progress and prosperity of the country, unity of the ‘Ummah’, solution of their problems and liberation of Muslim territories, including occupied Kashmir.

Special arrangements are made for Eid ul fitr, so that all the men can offer Eid prayer across the country in various Masajids. In the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, the Eid congregations too place at more than 300 places. Eid prayer in Islamabad is held at an enormous scale at Faisal Masjid. In Lahore a Big gathering can be seen performing Eid prayers at Badshahi Masjid; at Memon Masjid in Karachi and Binori Town; though the largest congregation takes places at Islamabad in aisal Mosque, where the high-ups of the government also offered Eid prayers. In Rawalpindi, the biggest Eid congregation usually takes place at the historic Liaquat Bagh. Strict security measures are adopted outside the ‘Eidgahs’, and police and Rangers keep patrolling for the safety of the namazis.

After the Eid prayers have been performed, Pakistanis spend their time feasting with family and friends. Most of the Muslims spent their time feeding those who are less fortunate.  Eid is a time for sharing Eid Gifts and Eidi For Kids. Kheer, Sheer Khorma, Cakes and Sweets are also a specialty of the day and are prepared for serving the guests.
